Semen Freezing

Semen freezing is carried out at our centre and it involves the freezing of semen to a temperature of -196 degrees Celsius.  The sperm cells are frozen into a static but viable state and will not degrade or perish providing correct storage and handling. When thawed, the semen is re-awakened to its pre-frozen form, capable of fertilisation.

Reasons to freeze semen from your stallion

  • Cover yourself against unexpected death or injury of your stallion.

  • Preserve for future before castration.

  • Offering to potential mare owners that want to use your stallion

  • Can be done in winter so that the stallion does not have to cover during summer if he is competing.
