Semen freezing is carried out at our centre and it involves the freezing of semen to a temperature of -196 degrees Celsius. The sperm cells are frozen into a static but viable state and will not degrade or perish providing correct storage and handling. When thawed, the semen is re-awakened to its pre-frozen form, capable of fertilisation.
Reasons to freeze semen from your stallion
Cover yourself against unexpected death or injury of your stallion.
Preserve for future before castration.
Offering to potential mare owners that want to use your stallion
Can be done in winter so that the stallion does not have to cover during summer if he is competing.
