El Barone 111 is one of the most sought-after stallions in Europe with results up to international 5* 160 classes under Malin Baryard Johnson and Jens Fredricson.
As a four-year-old, five-year-old and six-year-old, El Barone 111 was at the top of the prestigious Belgian Stallion Competition, and was clear in all his international starts as a six-year-old. In 2019, due to the high demand as a breeding stallion, he did not have much time to participate in international competitions. Nevertheless, he finished second in the overall standings of the Belgian Stallion Competition for 7 years and started his international career up to CSI2* 140. In 2020, the positive trend continued with solid results and victories up to CSI3* 140.
Malin Baryard-Johnsson became El Barone’s new rider in 2021. Together, they racked up results up to international 5* 160 classes before Jens Fredricson took over the reins in 2022. El Barone 111 and Jens have had a successful start to their collaboration, with placements in autumn 2023 in both Helsinki and Oslo.
El Barone 111 has enormous jumping ability, balance and spectacular technique. His strong canter and riding skills, combined with his desire to always jump clear make him a modern sport horse.
Descendants
El Barone’s first offspring are highly valued by breeders and auctioneers alike. Those who are now under saddle have shown good promise as future showjumpers and he already has several approved sons. In March 2024, he already has 14 approved sons in studbooks across Europe and his first offspring will enter the international arena.
Pedigree
His sire Emerald and the Dutch rider Harry Smolders have had an exceptional career in international show jumping and are an anchor for the Dutch national team. Team medals from the Olympics, World Cup Finals, GCT, and numerous 5-star Grand Prix top placings are among their accomplishments. As a breeding stallion, Emerald has passed on his jumping talent several times. His first-year foals in 2008 produced the approved stallion I’m special de Muze and the young jumper Igor, ridden by Jos Verlooy. The line of Emerald produced many international Grand Prix horses such as Butterfly PS, Nobility PS and Diamanthina van’t Ruytershof.
His dam Naktibro jumped successfully at 150 jumping level and is the sister of two approved stallions, including Guidam Sohn.
His dam’s sire Libero H, with Jos Lansink in the saddle, was known worldwide in the sport and one of the sires of modern showjumpers. Libero H won numerous World Cup qualifiers and then won the World Cup final in 1994. He achieved the highest award a stallion can receive in terms of quality “preferent”. The preferential predicate is awarded when a stallion demonstrates excellence compared to other stallions in terms of movement, jumping and conformation characteristics of his offspring. And produced many Grand Prix horses such as Castle Forbes Libertina (Jessica Kürten), No Mercy (Christina Liebherr), Castle Forbes Maike (Jessica Kürten). Libero H is also the sire of the KPWN-approved stallion Ustinov, who became KPWN champion stallion in 2004.
