For many years, VDL Cartello was in the shadow of his world-famous brother Cardento, but in recent years VDL Cartello himself has become one of the very best showjumpers in the world.  Ridden by Darragh Kenny, Cartello achieved numerous successes, including victories and top placings in Nations Cups and Grand Prix events. One of his career highlights was competing at the Tokyo 2021 Olympic Games, where he delivered outstanding team performances for Ireland, including a win in the opening speed class. More recently, Cartello claimed victory in the Grand Prix of Monterrey and secured second place in the prestigious Rolex Grand Prix of the Spruce Meadows Masters. Cartello has earned over €1.6 million in prize money during his sporting career
