Darry Lou was born in the Netherlands. After approval by the Dutch studbook, the stallion came into the hands of the Mexican rider Alberto Aldana.

The American top rider Beezie Madden took over the reins in 2017. Together they achieved great successes such as winning the GP in Wellington, 1.55 CSI5* Calgary, two 1.60 classes at CSIO5* Calgary and several top performances in Nations Cup competitions. Darry Lou and Madden racked up many wins over the years, including the $3 million CP International Grand Prix and the $133,700 Tourmaline Oil Cup at the 2019 Spruce Meadows Masters in Calgary, and the Nations Cup there in 2017, as well as other victories in Wellington, USA, and Monterrey, MEX.The 2019 competition year was highlighted with several historic finishes for Madden and Darry Lou as they capped an exceptionally strong seasonal campaign with back-to-back wins at the prestigious Spruce Meadows ‘Masters’ CSIO5*. Following a win in the Tourmaline Oil Cup 1.60m, Madden and Darry Lou went on to secure top honours in the world’s largest grand prix, the $3 Million CP International Grand Prix presented by Rolex, besting a field of 49 renowned competitors.
Their 2019 campaign began at the Winter Equestrian Festival (WEF) where they secured the top spot in the $209,000 Marshall & Sterling Grand Prix CSI4* before going on to top the AIG $1 Million Grand Prix in Thermal, Calif., in April. Madden and Darry Lou earned two additional wins during the ‘National’ Tournament at Spruce Meadows

In 2020 the stallion moved to the Evergate Stables.

The stallion can now be seen with his rider Nayal Nassar at the highest level. Last year Harrie Smolders took over the rains. This combination made already some top results in Achen and Calgary.
